N-able Readies Partners for Hardware-as-a-Service with New "How to" Partner Development Unit

Industry thought leader debuts new step-by-step learning materials and offers partners integrated pricing support and arranged financing to bolster adoption of emerging IT business model.

Ottawa, Canada — February 20, 2007 — N-able Technologies®, the leading provider of managed services software and business transformation services for resellers servicing small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced a new partner development unit that offers a set of business resources and support designed to help accelerate the adoption of Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) within the MSP channel.

The new HaaS partner development unit helps N-able's MSP partners understand this emerging business model and navigate its complexities, says Mike Cullen, N-able's vice president of sales. "These new resources and support provide our MSP partners direct access to a flexible and proven go-to-market framework that captures the business expertise, services and financial relationships necessary to effectively deliver HaaS."

The new HaaS partner development unit is free to qualified N-able MSPs who are actively using the Velocity System™. It features valuable new methodologies, as well as a step-by-step guideline to establishing a successful HaaS offering. As part of the new unit, N-able MSPs will also gain access to:

  1. Detailed MSP requirements noting the technical expertise and investment required to deliver HaaS, as well as the necessary support, software and staffing needs
  2. A detailed chronology of a standard HaaS engagement
  3. Recorded teaching lectures from N-able University™ discussing HaaS
  4. Process-driven diagrams demonstrating and outlining HaaS
  5. Integrated pricing support for including HaaS into an existing managed services solution
  6. Arranged financers (leasing companies) who offer HaaS financing

"It's no secret that the best way to attack complexity is with simplicity — especially when you're merging the intricacies of technology, financing and services into one business model," says Gavin Garbutt, N-able's president & CEO of N-able Technologies. "Our new HaaS partner development unit is ideal for established MSPs who are ready to take their business to the next level, but aren't quite sure where or how to start."

N-able Simplifies HaaS and Targets Financial Institutions

To help ensure the success of its MSP partners, N-able spent the past six months breaking down the complexity of HaaS into a modular solution that complements traditional managed service offerings with the resources and training needed to offer HaaS. The company also took careful consideration in documenting specific needs and qualifying best practices and common pitfalls to ensure the new partner development unit was not only successful, but also repeatable.

During this developmental stage, the industry leader's sales team identified and pre-qualified a number of financial institutions who understand HaaS and are eager to work with N-able's MSPs.

"The biggest hurdle for most MSPs who want to adopt a HaaS model is understanding the financial aspect or finding the right financer," says N-able partner J. Michael Drake of masterIT. "With this new HaaS partner development unit, N-able has removed two of the most difficult obstacles HaaS brings to bare. In its place they are offering partners a proven ‘playbook' for developing a profitable and sustainable HaaS model."

"HaaS is not a passing trend — it is the sales model of the future for the IT channel," concludes Cullen. "That is why N-able will continue to invest in and deliver the resources, technology, people and support our partners need to take control of their business models, stay ahead of commoditization and truly maximize the service opportunities that lie ahead of them."

About HaaS

HaaS (Hardware-as-a-Service) in its purest form is when an MSP blends the use of IT assets such as PCs, servers, networking equipment and software into a customer's ongoing, fixed, monthly, managed service payments. In doing so the MSP consolidates the hardware, software licenses and support services into one predictable payment and in turn presents the customer with an all-inclusive service offering and a very high level of IT cost predictability, while significantly improving the MSP's bottom line results.
